Slim Aarons made a name for himself as a photographer of the truly luxurious lifestyle. Starting in the 1950s, he began photographing celebrities, jet setters and socialites. He describes his career very simply:
”Photographing attractive people doing attractive things in attractive places.”
But unlike the paparazzi of today, he was welcomed by the rich and famous into their enclaves and parties around the globe to photograph their style, affluence and lives of luxury. He amassed an incredible body of work, and most of his books are still in print. Well worth the purchase, if only to escape for a few hours into a world and time gone by.
(That’s Bridget Bardot in the hammock, by the way.)
